JCI Western Region Convention
May 7, 2010 at 8:00pm to 5:00pm on May 9, 2010
1. What is the Western Region Convention?
The Western Region consists of the chapters in Calgary, Edmonton, and Humboldt. Each spring our Region (as do all regions in Canada) get together for a weekend of socializing, training, and the Western Region Effective Speaking Competition. This year it will be held May 7-9, 2010 in Red Deer AB
2. What is the format of the convention?
Friday night will we have an informal gathering in the hotel bar. There is no planned agenda for this evening as members will be travelling
The convention will officially kick off at 7:30am with breakfast in the hotel. We will then have 2-3 training sessions in the morning (about 1 to 1.5 hours in duration).
We will enjoy a nice lunch at the hotel and perhaps 1 training session in the afternoon and then have the Western Region Effective Speaking Competition. (please contact your Chapter President for details on this program)
We will be planning a dinner and social event on Saturday evening.
Sunday morning will be the Regional AGM.
The convention will wrap up at 12:00pm on Sunday.
3. What type of training can I expect?
We try to offer training that focuses on any of our 4 areas of development—Personal, Business, International and Community. As JCI is about personal development, we do look to our members to provide training. A call for trainers will be coming out shortly to the members. As an example, we have had training in the past on financial planning, interview tips, etc.
4. What is the dress code?
Friday and Saturday night and Sunday morning will be casual while Saturday during the day is business casual.
5. What is the registration fee and what does it include?
$125 up to and including April 7, 2010 and $150 after April 7, 2010.
The fee includes all of your training, the Effective Speaking Competition and breakfast on Sat and Sun and lunch on Sat.
