Yes. If you are a full time student the member rate is $50.

What is JCI?

JCI (Junior Chamber International), Inc., is a worldwide federation of young professionals and entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 40.

JCI was founded in Mexico City on December 11, 1944, when representatives from eight nations met to create an organization that would address global concerns. From these eight nations, JCI has grown spanning every continent to include more than 100 nations.

What type of members does JCI attract?

JCI Calgary has a broad range of members consisting mainly of young professionals. The fields vary from lawyer to teacher to entrepenuer. Everyone is between the ages of 18 and 40 with the average age being 32.

Is there funding for members to attend conferences and different training events?

Yes. JCI Calgary allows it's members to apply for funding out of our casino funds.

How much is the investment to join JCI Calgary?

Membership in JCI Calgary is only $125.00 CAN per year, with a $25 setup fee your first year. This added fee gets you a name tag and welcome package.

What is JCI Calgary's affiliation with The Chamber of Commerce?

The international level of JCI has an on-going agreement with ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) and JCI Calgary works with the local Chamber that facilitates our meeting space, provides our voice mail, and our physical address.

What is JCI Calgary?

JCI Calgary is the local division of the International and National organization/federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs.

What types of volunteer events does JCI organize?

JCI Calgary supports events in the community with member's time (such as CIBC's Run For The Cure), as well as organize our own events to support worthy causes (such as a golf tournament for The Boys and Girls Club).

What would be expected of me as a member?

JCI Calgary is not the type of organization that "paper members" would get any benefit from. Simply having membership is only a small part of the process.

In order to grow and develop you will want to make sure that you participate in a committee, volunteer at one of our events, and do your best to make attendance a priority.

What are the membership benefits?

Every member of JCI benefits in their own way. There are four general areas of opportunity in JCI:
 
  1. Business - Develop business relationships, network, and learn how to get ahead.
  2. Individual - Develop friendships with like-minded people, and learn new skills for personal improvement.
  3. Community - Reach out to your community members and help through our outreach programs.
  4. International - JCI is an international organization with chapters in over 100 nations. There are many different travelling opportunities within JCI each year all over the world.

Access to funding - JCI Calgary runs a Casino every 2 years which allows members to apply for funding to help financially support their travel to conferences all over the world each year. In addition it gives our chapter the opportunity to run fantastic training events throughout the year.

Every member gets out of JCI what they put into JCI. If you are looking to improve yourself on numerous fronts, then this is the group for you.
